The Crossroads, Thurgoland

Well known for the Green Dragon Pub, this photo doesn't look too dissimilar to its older predecessor.

The bus stop was replaced with the War Memorial in 1921, and the Dragon didn't always look as it is today. To the left, where the toilets now are, used to be Miss Chambers Wool Shop and at the opposite end, the bottom and top windows used to be a completely separate house.

Up the road outside the old Smithie, used to be a spot to stop and sing during the Whitsuntide walk, complete with a Piano mounted on a wagon. Drop the Thurgoland Action Group a line if you want to bring it back !!!
