--Village and Community Hall Challenge

During May 2004 the Village Hall Committee were approached by the Yorkshire Rural Community Council with an opportunity to win £250,000.

The national competition will award 2 prizes of £250,000 each with runner up prizes of £50,000. The money can be used to help rebuild or restore the Village Hall and the committee have already had confirmed that Thurgoland meet the criteria of the scheme in order to be able to submit an application.

The initial application has a deadline of July 30th 2004 and if successful, a further second round will require a full proposal by the 28th January 2005. The final decision will be taken by 25th March 2005.
