--FREE BUS TRAVEL FOR UNDER 18'S - Mi card information.

With effect from Saturday 25 April 2009, Barnsley residents under the age of 18 will be able to travel free on any journey operating wholly within Barnsley or between Barnsley and any other districts in South Yorkshire by direct bus upon presentation of a pass card known as Mi Card. Mi Cards can be used for free travel between 0900 and 2100 Monday to Friday and at any time during the weekend. However, Mi Card cannot be used to provide free rail travel.

Application forms are being given to all state schools in Barnsley, they can also be obtained from Barnsley Information Centres, Barnsley Connects offices and most libraries. Applicants must provide proof of name, address, age and a recent photograph. This scheme is being funded by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.
