Police Surgeries
Parts of Thurgoland are now designated in relation to the prohibition of alcohol. Basically any person in these areas with alcohol (opened or otherwise) can have the alcohol confiscated from them and face up to a £500 fine. The major areas of concern encompass Halifax Road through the village, the bus shelters on Smithy Hill, Cote Lane and Churchfields, and the Kickwall centre at the rear of the school. These areas have been made designated to help Penistone Local Partnership Team combat problems which are alcohol fuelled.

Theft in the Area
There has been a recent spate of thefts of and from motor vehicles all over Barnsley. The Community Police advise that we need to be extra vigilant when securing their vehicles. Use steering wheel locks if available, ensure alarms are set, use garage space rather than leave on road or driveway and definitely do not leave valuables or items of interest in vehicles. Also they ask that if anybody observes anything they deem suspicious to let us know. It may help to prevent some crime or solve some others.
