Pre-season training went well with good enthusiasm from local individuals wanting to play for the club and ex Thurgoland campaigner J Furrniss coming on board to assist with training.

A total of three friendly games were played, the first losing to Sheffield Bankers at home, second again losing away to Hoyland Common and the Third, a 3-0 win over local rivals Oxspring FC.

During the pre-season period, much support was again appreciated from local sponsors. No matter how little the help, every penny counts and special
thanks go to Allan and Elaine at the Green Dragon Pub who held this years Harvest festival in aid of the club.

The main season kicked off with a defeat away against Sheffield Bankers, losing
again the following week to Hoyland G/T. It was commented in the Green Dragon that Thurgoland were unlucky to not gain a single point despite scoring 9 goals in two games!

The following game saw Thurgoland dominate a match for the first time,
paying off in a 7-1 victory against Dearne Valley College at Wath. The next home match against Bochum was a non-event when the visitors failed to show up (obviously heard about our win against Dearne Valley College the week before!).

The next home game saw Thurgoland play host to the top of the league Rawmarsh. An excellent performance was put in by Thurgoland and they were unfortunate to lose the 3-1 half-time advantage and lose the match 4-3, however on the positive side, the team gained in confidence and realised that they could compete to a reasonable standard.

The most recent game, played on the 30th October saw Thurgoland win 5-1 against Jeld Wen at home. It was good to see some local home support for the first time on the touchline and all of the players appreciated it.

The next match will again be played on a much suffering Thurgoland Pitch, against Dearne Valley College and everyone's support on the day would be much appreciated.

Tennis - Thurgoland Tennis Tournament 2004
No juniors or ladies played this years tennis tournament, however the Thurgoland Mens Tennis Tournament did go ahead. The Men's Champion was Mark Raynor and the runner up was Martin Jackson
