Thurgoland Parish Paths Partnership

The Parish Paths Group would like to enlist the help of anyone who is prepared to walk a path in the parish at least six times a year and report any problems concerning the path. If enough volunteers come forward, it means the network of parish paths can be constantly monitored and any problems quickly identified and dealt with.

For further information on walks in the parish or to assist with the Parish Paths Group initiative, please contact Ann Rowley on (0114) 288 2595.

THURGOLAND BOUNDARY WALK

The Annual Thurgoland Boundary Walk will take place on Monday 5 May 2008, starting at 10.00 a.m. from The Bridge Inn, Cote Lane, Thurgoland.

Last year the walk attracted around 100 walkers and it is hoped that this years’ event will prove even more popular.

The walk covers the boundary of the Parish and is approximately 9 miles in length.  It takes in spectacular views, footpaths, bridleways, part of the Trans Pennine Trail and is suitable for all age groups and walking abilities.

As an extra incentive, at the conclusion of the walk (from 1.30 p.m. onwards) all walkers will be able to enjoy pie and peas, free of charge, at The Bridge Inn.

A map of the walk will be provided at the start – the Parish Council looks forward to seeing you there – enjoy your day out!!
