Village Hall

Thurgoland Village Hall is located in the centre of the village and is used by many of the village organisations. It is available for rent by any individual or organisation subject to availability. Within the environs of the recreation ground there are facilities for football, bowls, and tennis. There is also a play area for children. There are two buildings, the main Hall and a smaller building, used mainly for children’s activities - a Youth Club and an out-of-school club. If you wish to rent the hall or any of the other facilities please contact Margaret Denton on 0114 288 5037; the rent is usually £12 per hour but may vary depending upon the purpose and duration of your hire. The Hall can accommodate 150 people and we have seating for 100 theatre style or 60 at tables. Cooked meals for up to 50 people are regularly served from our kitchen.

The Village Hall is the home to many Village organisations such as the Luncheon Club and the History group and various classes are held here. The Hall and the other amenities on the site are all run by The Thurgoland Welfare Committee for the benefit of the residents of Thurgoland and the surrounding areas. The Thurgoland Village Welfare is a Charitable Trust and registered with the Charities Commission and as such has to report publicly on the financial and operational management each year

A large amount of work has been done in the past year to improve and secure the Village Hall including a new store room joining the Hall and the Youth Centre with very useful storage space, improvements to the toilet facilities, new carpeting and, perhaps most important, improvement to the surface water drains that we hope will avoid future flooding. Our facilities are being continuously updated as funds permit
